Workshop Description:

How can teachers cultivate an inclusive learning environment for students of color through literature? Culturally responsive teaching provides a window for students to see themselves within the context of the content being taught. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to identify rich, authentic literature to support an inclusive learning environment and strategies for effective reading instruction when reviewing the content.

  • To provide educators with the tools to determine what qualifies as  diverse literature;
  • To use diverse literature in the literacy block and support students of color to increase reading achievement.
