Description
Clerisy Architect: Brandon Clayton
Length of Workshop: 60 minutes
Danielson Framework: Domain 2 (Classroom Environment)
Workshop Description:
According to research done by Robin Lester and some of her colleagues, “Classroom management is the key to learning.” (Lester, 2017). Some have discovered this hard after attempting to double-down on solely teaching while neglecting the need for implementing healthy and consistent management practices.
This workshop is broken into 3 parts. The first part discusses the research supporting the need for strong and consistent classroom management practice for learning. The next two parts will equip you with techniques that Doug Lemov has observed champion teachers tend to use 2.) at the beginning of class and 3.) during class. This is a must-have for every educator, new or experienced.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the value that research places on systems and routines in the classroom
- Explore effective systems and routines that promote a healthy classroom environment
